Men’s Consultation

The first step in testing for male infertility is a semen analysis. A semen analysis is the only way to identify a problem with the male partner’s sperm. If you suspect you have a problem with your sperm such as testicular trauma, erectile dysfunction or problems ejaculating it would be best to come in for a consultation

Semen Analysis
This includes assessment of sperm concentration, morphology, motility, anti-sperm antibodies, volume, pH (level of acidity), semen viscosity (consistency), and progression (motion and forward progression).

Retrograde Semen Analysis
An assessment of semen & urine for confirmation of retrograde ejaculation.

Further, more advanced tests, if required, can be advised such as:

• Sperm DNA Assessment
• Assessment of sperm vitality and motility
• CMA3 test (DNA fragmentation assessment)
• Acridine Orange test (DNA quality assessment)

Semen Freezing
Cryopreservation and storage of semen can also be proposed if you are concerned about future fertility. It is advisable that if you are about to start chemotherapy or radiotherapy to freeze your semen or if you perhaps work in an environment with high temperatures.
